Black Characters

Hi all, I hope you are having a great day.

All of a sudden, my Word starting acting up. When I open Word, it comes up
to a blank (white) page as usual. However, when I start typing, the line I'm
typing on turns black all across the page. When typing extends to 2nd and
following lines, the same thing happens. I've deleted normal.dot and that
does not resolve the situation. I've worked with themes and background and
other thingees but nothing seems to work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
