black stripe

I am using Word 2000 (on Win 2000 op system). While I am working in the legal
template and documents using that template which I previously created and
saved, I now have a black stripe at the bottom on line 24-25.

I have tried the following: renaming the normal.dot; using run and running
word in safe mode; renaming the word registry key and restarting;
uninstalling and reinstalling word; and using the "ovr" key in on position.
Despite all this, the black stripe continues. It shows when I am in print
view (view/print layout).

Any suggestions on what to try next?

Nope, did not work. I dont have that option to check as I am using Word 2000.
Any other suggestions? I really need to fix this as it has messed up all my
legal pleadings and I can't create new ones using the template.
Thanks.

Suzanne, I hope all is well down there in Alabama and Dennis isn't
totally inundating you. Sending my best thoughts your way.

Nope cant find any drawing line.

On some pages of the document, its only a black block over in the line
number portion of the pleading on the left hand side. On other pages of the
same doc, its a thick black mark that takes up 2-3 lines.
