Blank field report print failure

I have an Access table with a field called 'hours' that is sometime blank,
which causes a basic report to not display any hours when I run it. I
verified this by pasting 'Test1' in all the hours fields and my report
worked fine. I did a little more testing by making all the hours fields
blank again, except for the 1st one and none of the hours printed on the
report. It appears all the hours fields need to be non-blank to get the
report to output data. Is there any way around this?
