Blank pages after merge

Z Man

I am preparing a legal page size document. The merge goes well and when I
merge the 65 pages to a new document, the new doc looks right in Print
Layout view. However, in Preview I can see that I actually have 129 pages,
with alternatve pages completely blank. In the bottom left of the Preview,
it reads Page 1 for all pages. For the second Preview page (which is blank),
it says Page 1, Sec 2, 2/129. The third Preview page is not blank and says
Page 1, Sec 2, 3/129. The fourth preview page is blank and says Page 1, Sec
3, 4/129. This pattern repeats for the remainder of the 129 pages.

In Print Layout view, there appears to be plenty of space at the top and
bottom of the document. How do I eliminate the blank pages?

Hi Z,

If it were a problem with not enough space, then the first blank page (the
second page total of the document) ought still to be part of Sec 1. Since this
is not the case, I'm wondering if the Section Breaks mail merge generated are
of the type "Odd page"? Could you turn on the display of non-printing
characters (Tools/Options/View) and check what kind of section break this is?

And/or check the "New section" setting in the main merge document under
File/Page Setup/Layout.
