blank spots in text above page numbers

Hello,

I have the bizarre problem with my word document. Occasionally, the
line that is directly above the page number will have a large blank
spot right above the page number. The blank spot is where a space in
the sentence is, and the effect is similar to justified text (my text
is left-justified).

For example, let's say my sentence is:
"This was accomplised by modifying..."

Then what I see at the bottom of the page is:
"This was accomplished by modifying..."

The large blank spot is right above the page number. If I move the page
numbers from center to left or right, then a similar blank spot appears
on the left or right of the line.

This is happening on about 5% of the lines in the document.

Thanks,
Scott

Problem is most likely the fact that your "space before" is set very
high for the page number in the footer. Open the footer, highlight the
page number, right click, select paragraph, and make sure "spacing
before" is set to 0. Hope it helps.

Jim.
