Blank worksheet area

Hi. I work in IT for a public library. Our machines are currently running
Excel 2000 under Windows2k.

When a staff member attempts to open an excel spreadsheet with macros in it,
it gives him the usual option of enable/disable macros. However, after
choosing either of these options, the file opens but the workbook area is
completely blank. If you hit Print Preview, you can see that the file is
open, and gives you the appropriate preview window, but the actual workspace
to edit the file is completely missing. As far as I can tell there are no
hidden windows, and they haven't been moved off the screen.

The other odd part which may give a clue in how to resolve this is that if I
log into the computer as administrator, the file opens correctly, and the
workbook area is visible on the screen, ready to be edited. Also, if the
excel file is emailed to another staff member, it can then be opened and the
work area is visible (using the same program and OS on a different machine).

After this problem occured, I downloaded the automatic updates for Office
2k, but this did not fix the problem.

Any help would be appreciated, as I cannot let the staff member log into the
machine as administrator.

Hi Matthew,

What happens if you select Window, arrange, tiled after opening the file?
