Blanks removed

Franz

Hi,

I am using Office 2007 and a friend of mine has a Mac with Office
2008. Every time we exchange .pptx files, blanks (between words) are
removed after editing the presentation. He doesn't remove the blanks,
I don't remove the blanks. They are simply not there after
presentation was exchanged between Mac and Windows.

Did anyone of you already experience this issue?

Thanks!

Franz

Thank you for your report.
Does this problem repro with all blank spaces after every words in your
presentation? Does this repro with the blank space between specific words?

Hi,

I don't think so, but I try to repro it. If it works I could provide
you the presentation to analyze it in much more detail.

Thanks,
Franz

Yes, I have exactly that same issue, but I cannot determine a pattern. It is not all spaces. I seem to notice it near words underlined as mis-spelled, or in text edited by a PC 2007 (on slides originally created by a Mac 2008).

We are investigating this issue. The space between 2 misspelled words in the
document created in Mac PPT 2008 is lost when it's opened in Window PPT
2007. If your document has 2 words which have red squiggly underline next
to each other, space between them will be lost. A work around is to delete
red squiggly underline before you save the document on Mac by ignoring those
misspelled words. There is no need to do this if misspelled red underlined
word is alone and does not connected to other misspelled word.

Are there any updates?

Hi Franz!

Always keep an eye on Microsoft's download site for updates
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx>.

Although folks from Microsoft may acknowledge they are investigating
problems they have never posted unofficial messages about bug fixes in
upcoming updates. These newsgroups are not an official announcement area
for them.

Keep in mind that not all bug fixes are necessarily in the next released
update. Sometimes Microsoft may choose not to fix a bug if the fix can
negatively affect other features.

Hope this helps!
