Blinking text

N

N.Coffey

I am still using FP2000. I'd like to make a line of text blink. I went
to Format-->Font and "Blink" is greyed out. I changed the
compatibility to "MS Internet Explorer only" and the highest browser
choice I had was 4.0 and later. Is there some other change I have to
make to be able to make the text blink?

Thanks,
Nancy

It is not recommended to blink text for varioous reasons,
and that is why it has been deprecated

In FP2000 it is still available, but it is/was a Netscape only option. As of NS version 6.21 it is
no longer supported.

I remembered when I first started doing pages, I tried it
and it never did anything for me. Once I got to the point of
using other browsers to test pages in, I found that I had
some blink text and found the long forgotten tags

<blink> is no longer supported, and the css eqvlnt
(text-decoration: blink) only works in Firefox/Mozilla,
Netscape (not in IE mode), and Opera.

Nancy,
Blink is Netscape Navigator only so any IE compatibility won't work.
It was a tag invented by Netscape that never caught on with any other
browser manufacturer (never mind the standards commitee) It can also be
harmful as blinking text of certain colors can cause seizures for some
individuals. Not to mention the fact that it will only work in a small
fraction of the browser market.

Hope this helps,
