I had been happily revising a report in Winword 97, using
XP. Each successive version, not surprisingly, grew
slightly larger. Version 2 had about 300,000 bytes.
version 3 had 420,000. But then things got out of hand.
After a few revisions version 4 had 2 million, and
version 5 over 6 million. I only realised this when
someone to whom I emailed the text queried why the file
had got so large.
I loaded the 6 million byte version and saved it under
another name, but otherwise unchanged. The new version
had 290,000 bytes.
Can someone tell me what is going on?
