space of 3.2 gigs but what happen was that upon installation the
remaining free space in my C drive was only 918 megs!

Office 2007 is big. While you are selecting what pieces to install it
shows how much space will be consumed. If you do a custom install you
can tell it to put parts on other drives or tell it to not install
parts that you are not going to use.

Hi Roy,

This article may explain part of what you're seeing.

Office leaves an \MSOCache folder on the drive, which is essentially the content of the CD. The idea being that when you update, or
repair you wouldn't need to search for the CD in most cases.

Hi Gordon,

The size of the MSOCache folder can depend on which edition/apps you have installed. During the installation process there are a
lot of temp file areas used that can run the usage up to 1.5GB or so. Usually the temp files are cleared out at the end of the
install.

Hi Brian...supposing I will just drag the pieces that I don't use
often to the D:\ drive would that be possible or I have just to cut
and paste it. I am worried that it might affect the program integrity
and hence might affect the performance of the other pieces.
