Bloating and Name AutoCorrect

I have been reading that I should turn the Name AutoCorrect off to minimize
bloating. I have found that I use the Object Dependencies help when I am
planning changes/updates. How do others systematically track changes, etc.
Any good resources would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
