block delete confirmation - turn it on and off?

Hi,
Does anyone know how to turn off block delete confirmation?

I don't know what I did to start it, but this behavior is driving me nuts.
If I select a block of text, from a few characters to a paragraph or more
and then press the delete key, the status bar (at the bottom) shows a
message: "Delete Block? No (Yes)" I then have to hit the "Y" key to
complete the delete. As I say, this is a new behavior to me, I've not seen
it before and believe me, I've deleted a LOT of text.

Anyone know how to turn it off?
