blocking call to accDoDefaultAction - Word 2007

Hi,
I was trying to call (or press) a custom office menu button
programmatically using IAccessible interface. I am trying to call the
accDoDefaultAction on the custom button. But, apparantly, it is a non-
blocking (asynchronous) call. Is there any way to check a flag/
condition to see if the operation is completed? or does any one know
if there is a blocking call that we can use for this operation?
