Hi Dave,
That option was originally added to Word for folks moving over from WordPerfect-DOS. It was dropped from Office 2007. Using the
Control panel display and/or accessibility settings will let you make some changes, but not just for Word.

When I was using word 2000, I could make the document have a blue background
with white letters, which was much easier on my eyes. Now that I upgraded
to Word 2007, it doesn't seem to have that option. Am I overlooking
something? >>
