Blurry ads in .pdf

I'm using Publisher 2003. When I convert my final draft to .pdf, several ads
are blurry and unreadable. These are scanned from glossy business cards, I
then convert to gray scale witnin Publisher. Everything seems fine until I
convert to .pdf. Any suggestions?

Have you tried converting the images to gray scale in a editing program and then
inserting into Publisher? You might have better results.

Also, what resolution are you scanning at? If you zoom in on the images in
Publisher, do they appear blurry? (Blurry images only appear blurry when
viewed close enough up, due to the nature of the eye)

Yes, I did. When I scanned, I opted for Grayscale. The scans are clear as a
bell, but when I convert to a .pdf they become blurry.

Don't know what to tell you. Are you selecting press quality in Acrobat? What is
the resolution of your images? Are they .tiff's? What happens if you change the
extension to a .jpg or .png?
This article addresses 48 bit tiff's.
TIFF image appears dark when you insert it into PowerPoint 2003 (Publisher is
mentioned as well)

What are the quality settings you've selected in your PDF converter? Which
PDF converter are you using?
