blurry inserted images

Hi,

This problem has existed since the beginning of time, and I thought I'd
discovered a workaround, but now that doesn't work either. If I paste an
image into word 2k3 11.5604.5606, from any source, in any format, any
dimensions and with any paste-special option, it is blurred. Horribly.

I discovered in the past that saving the image to file, then inserting
it, fixed this issue but that doesn't seem to do the trick any more.

At any zoom, and at any %size, the image is blurred.

What the hell is word's problem and more importantly, what can I do
about it?

Hope someone can help :)

Thanks

Andrew

How do the images print okay?

Look into a graphics driver upgrade. Slide the acceleration down on your
adapter, if the blur is gone after doing this, you definitely need a new driver.
Control panel, display folder, settings tab, advanced button, troubleshoot
tab...
Go to the manufacturer's web site and look around.

I've discovered that if when you insert the image, if word can fit it in
at what it thinks is 100% (which is never actaully 100%, its some made
up value by word) without it going outside the page margins, if you
reduce the size to 75%, its fine!

But thats just crap because if i want my image to be the page width, I
have to do it in two half-width bits then put them next to one another.

All i want to do is insert an image into my document. Why is it such an
effort?

Hi Andrew,

What verson of Word and what method are you using to Insert the graphic? For some graphics that don't or can't support a pixel per
inch (PPI) rendering value in the graphic itself Word tries to apply the setting in
Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options=>[Pictures]

Word 2k3 11.5604.5606

Copy and paste has - since word 5 - caused blurryness, so I always
"insert->picture from file". I have tried virtually every image format.

My latest work around for anyone else who's getting really annoyed with
Word's crappy image handling is as follows:

Open a new word doc along side whatever you're working on.
Set the paper size to A1.
Insert your beautiful pixel-perfect image.
Observe Word completely mess it up.
Dbl click it and change to size from 100% to 75%. IF its not 100% to
start with, its not going to have worked. Insert the image again making
sure it will fit within the margins without being squashed.
Then cut the image and paste it into your real document.
et voila.
