BMP Image into Word

I copied an i-con into Paint and created a BMP image and now I want to use
that image in my Word document. My problem is that when I try pasting it into
my Word document, it is using the whole page. I cannot size it because if I
shrink it to the thumb nail size I need, it's invisible because it's so small.

Is there something I have to do to the image in Paint so that it doesn't
save the whole work area as part of the BMP file rather just the thumb nail
imgae of the i-con instead so that when I insert it into my Word document it
is much smaller and manageable???

You can do one of two things:
-- Either make the image dimensions much smaller in Paint, which
will result in a smaller file size which is good, or
-- AFter you insert it into Word, grab a handle at a corner and
keep dragging it inward until it's the size you want. If it's
already inserted, you have to click it first to give it focus.

If the icon in Paint is showing up in a little corner of a much bigger
screen, then what you need to do is select just the part you want to paste
into your Word document. I do this all the time...

Click on Paint's select tool (it's the dotted-line outlined rectangle);
click-and-hold in one corner of your icon, drag to the diagonally opposite
corner, and let go. You should now see a dotted line around the icon -
which should be a much smaller portion of the screen than the WHOLE Paint
image. Now copy that (Ctrl-C) and then switch to Word, and paste it
(Ctrl-V).
