Bold shortcut affects entire document

Paul

If I highlight a line of text and use either the keyboard
shortcut (Ctrl B) or the B button on the toolbar the whole
document become bold.

If I use undo (Crtl Z) then I can unbold the rest of the
doc leaving the line I want in bold, so I can work around
it but it is very irritating!

I have not set any keyboard Macros.

This is using Word 2002 SP-2 and Office XP
I am also using a German Keyboard but have language
settings as English (US).

Any ideas?

The same thing happens to me. It's not only with Bold but
with Underline and Italic and other formattings. It
doesn't happen all the time - only occasionally. I'm
using XP in a network environment. I've changed out my
Mouse and the problem cleared up but only for a little
while and it was back again. According to my Help Support
in our IT group, the problem might be a virus. The
solution they propose? Get a new PC. I'm still waiting
and it's been over a month!

Tell them to read the MVP FAQ article posted earlier.
