Bolded dates in Date Navigator - Outlook 2000

At some point the dates with items stopped appearing in bold type. Using "View/Current View/Customize Current View/Other Settings/General Settings and checking the box: Bolded dates....." does not make them reappear

Outlook 2000 SP-3 (9.0.0.6627)

I am having the same problem with Outlook 2003 (Update).
