I'm really having problems with how to put up my booking system for a
dormitel.
There are 27 rooms in total...and the rooms are classified as either a hotel
or a dorm. There are three types of rooms-Double Twin, Double Matrimonial and
Family Room, each with a capacity of 2, 3 and 4 people respectively. A person
can book for a room, say a Double Twin which is good for two people, at a
particular date. That means there's still one left for that room. The hotel
will still accept any bookings for one person for that particular room. So
that means, that for any date, as long as the maximum capacity of a room is
not reached, the hotel will still accept bookings for that room. For Dorm
types, the rates are for every month and is different according to the term
or duration of stay they qualify regardless of their start dates and end
dates. For Hotel types, the charge is daily.
So here is what I want to happen:
1. They can check the availability of rooms such that when they enter the a
person's duration of stay, the start date and end date, all the rooms with
available spaces will show up. So for example, a person wishes to book a
Double Twin Dorm type room from June 1, 2008-July 2, 2008. So all rooms that
have spaces will show up and those rooms which have reached maximum capacity
of bookings on any of the dates from June 1-July 2, 2008 will not be included
in the results.
2. When they click on the Book button, it will only accept the data entered
if there's only available space on the room specified on the dates entered in
the Start Date and End Date.
3. One the customer has been booked, the clerk won't be able to book them
again unless they unbook them.
Here are pics of my forms and relationships to help you out:
