I have a rather large document (460 pages). I have legal sized paper, and
want the completed project to have 115 booklets of 4sheets of paper per
booklet, in the opened dimensions of 8.5" x 7", not 14" x 8.5". I have been
unable to get the printer to do this properly. My title page is page #0, and
the printer prints correctly if I allow it to print a regular booklet page
(15/0, then 1/14 back, etc), at full size. However, this creates a booklet
with the open dimensions of the full sheet of legal paper. My intentions are
to have the booklet be opened to 8.5" x 7" (half the sheet of paper). The
text should be in portrait orientation on either side of the fold. But I
just cannot get the printer to do this. In page setup, I have specified the
dimensions of the page to be 8.5" x 7". I have attempted mirror margins
(doesnt work), and book fold (prints page 30/15, not 15/0). Short of turning
each page of text into a separate section so I can print by sections, not
page, and then manually cutting each sheet of paper in half prior to
printing, I cannot figure out how to make this work, and I am rapidly coming
to the point of risking unemployment due to creative cursing toward Word and
printers in general. I am using Word 2003 to print. I have attempted
creating a custom size paper through the printer options, but it REFUSES to
accept 8.5x7, automatically changing it to 7x8.5 (which of course makes it
print wrong). My printer requires manual duplex, which seems to screw things
up even further. I am already down an 8th of a ream of legal paper because
of this. >.<
