Bookmark not being saved in 2007

SuzyQ

I have converted a Word 2003 template over into Word 2007. We recently rolled
out Word 2007 to a test group. One template has a macro that inserts an auto
text based on the user selecting from a list at a particular bookmark.

In the conversion process the bookmark disappered. Everytime I reinsert the
bookmark at the required location, save and close the template. The bookmark
spontaneously disappears.

Does Word 2007 handle bookmarks in a different way? How can I make my
bookmark stay?

Hi SuzyQ,

Word 2007 handles bookmarks in the same way as previous versions. Are you sure you're not trying to duplicate the bookmark? Only one
instance of a bookmark can exist in a document.

If only it was so easy. No. I go into the bookmark list and it does not exist
- I checked hidden bookmarks. The macro gets an error and points to the code
looking for the bookmark.

Is there some odd rule that says you can't have a bookmark at the beginning
of the document?

There is no such odd rule.

What code is being used? How have you implemented the facility by which the
user selects "from a list at a particular bookmark"?

Send me a copy of the template and I will look at it if you want.

Hi SuzyQ,

Bookmarks can go anywhere in a document. Your problem description does suggest, though, that the bookmark isn't being saved in the
template or, if it is, something in the macro you're using is deleting it before it gets populated. This could happen if, for
example, you've managed to get one bookmark embedded within or overplapping another bookmark.
