bookmarks - ADD not available

Hi-
This must be a simple problem... but I'm not finding the
answer. When I go to Insert a bookmark - sometimes ADD
is available and sometimes it is not???? I can't figure
out what I'm doing wrong??? I tried different views - is
there a setting somewhere that enables the bookmark
capabilities??

Bookmark identifiers can only contain letters, digits and IIRC very few
other symbols like "-", "_"... As soon as you hit a forbidden character,
Word doesn't let you assign that name.

A sensible behaviour, for once (though it could tell you a bit more
about it/more easily, I suppose ).

I was trying to bookmark dates with xx-xx-xx format.
Never would have thought of the "-" being a forbidden
character!!
