Bookshelf integration

I am installing MS Office 2003 update for a client that
had MS Bookshelf installed and accessible from MS Word
(the Look Up Reference command was visible in the menu). I
had quite a bit of difficulty installing using the Update
feature of the installation program. It would not load
recognize the existing Office installation, although the
client had a certificate of authenticity and genuine
installation disks. I removed the old installation
entirely and installed version 2003 cleanly, using the
client's Office XP CD-ROM installation disk for the
verification, but I cannot get Bookshelf link to work.

With XP and Office 2000 I had copied bookshelf 2000 to the HD and did the
install from there so I did not need the CD in the drive to use that
program. I then updated Office 2000 to 2003. I just typed in a word,
highlighted it, and right clicked. There was the bookshelf define function.
I asked me to agree to its use and then it gave me the bookshelf definition
box with the word defined.

Richard.

You are missing the point. This is Office 2003, not XP or
2000. I am upgrading FROM 2000. MS Bookshelf is on the
client's hard drive. Office includes an online "Research"
command that looks up words on the web. Gone are the
pronunciations of words that they rely on (also, the
photos, graphs, etc.) They paid for this stuff. They ought
to be able to use it. Or is installing Office 2003 meant
to disable existing MS products? As usual, another MS
product marred by faulty installation & upgrades.
