We came across the same problem when we converted from SQL
7 to 2000. This behaviour caused a failure in a production
process and necessitated our entire group to have to go
into work on the wewekend to solve the problem. It took us
hours to find as the only symptom was some reports coming
out with no data. Unfortunately, the blank reports had
been emailed to very senior management. We missed the SLA
with our client and it cost my company a few thousand
dollars.
