borders and shading

I am using Word 2000. When I apply a border, the bottom
border is not visable on print preview, nor does it print,
even though it is there.

I have tried everything from adjusting the margins, to
making sure the bottom border is enabled.

Also, this is happening before there is any text added to
the document, so it itsn't a matter of moving text to
accomodate space.

My girlfriend is having the same issue with her program,
so I don't think I have a bad file. Does anyone know of a
work around?
