Borland Data Engine (BDE) and Office 2003

I've been having some conflicts with an existing application that uses BDE
and MSDE and interfaces with Outlook. Outlook 2000 and XP both worked fine.
Once I installed Office 2003 Small Business Edition, I started having issues
in the BDE interfacing where Outlook 2003 would start and the other app
couldn't.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for here other than any clues as to why
Office 2003 install would cause BDE and DB issues by changing something. For
what it's worth, the application is SalesLogix CRM client software.
