What is it called? This is the bar where you can right click on NUM an

that if go into ADD or EXT mode this is displayed in one of the
boxes. I can't find any info that explains this bar and what each o
the boxes are . I looked on several boards + excel help. I can't eve
find documantation on what ADD mode is in excel help. Th

EXT means you are in Extended mode. As you move the mouse, all cells will be
selected. F8 toggles in and out of Extended mode.

ADD allows you to select non-contiguous cells without holding the CRTL key.
SHIFT + F8 toggles this.

Thanks Peo. I searched for "status bar" and found a page that desribe
what all the boxes are for.

I find it amazing that there is no info on the status bar in exce
help. You would think they would explain the layout of their product.
How Microsoft has not created a hyperlinked graphical display of
spreadsheet to their help file is beyond me. The index in their hel
file is so elementary I am beginning to think thay have it that way o
purpose. How can you not perform a boolean search, after all isnt thi
supposed to be worlds leading software manufaturer? Oh well, I guess
got my daily MS rant off the to do list early today

How could they charge you for support if the built in help was great? <g>
The world's biggest software manufacturer you mean? <g>

Peo,
Touche'

Andy,
This is exactly what I was talking about. Every product you buy has
layout like this (I am sure this type of diagram has a specific name)
except MS products
