Bottom margin

I would like to decrease my bottom margins by 3/8 ths of an inch, so
that they are I" only. Have tried to format with pull-down menus, and
also with pulling the margin gap down in the vertical ruler, but even
when I go to the minimum margin setting it's still too big. I'm using
A4 at the moment--will try later with US letter--I don't know if that
will make any difference.

I find graphical renditions incomprehensible. Try Format | Document,
Margins. Check your header/footer margins as well--they may be pushing the
regular margins bigger.

Make sure, in File | Page Setup, that you have told Word what paper size you
are using.

It can depend on what printer you're using, or to be precise what
printer driver software.

Older printers have bigger minimum margins, but usually 0.5" is about
biggest "smallest margin" you can get.

BUT, having said that I have noticed an annoying bug in either the HP
laser printer drivers or Word for the last three versions (at least)
where it refuses to work properly. The bottom margin always seems to be
about 0.75" more than it says in any of the margin numbers! The only
way I can get it to get close to the bottom of an A4 page is to set the
bottom margin to 0". (
