Breaking automatic link among Office Apps for User Information

Hi:

Ref: Office 2004 w/ update 11.2.3

I find that changing user information in Entourage automatically
changes user information in MS Word. I need to break that link. I
need a different user information for MS Word (for example) and another
one for MS Entourage.

Can someone point out how to do this?

Thanks

You're referring to an Office Identity, which contains a common
scrapbook, contacts list, projects list and other items. While you can
have multiple identities, only one can be active at a time.

What user information in particular are you needing to be different and
where are you seeing this displayed. Someone may be able to point you to
an acceptable workaround.

Hope this helps! bill

I need one identity to show up on Entourage such that all outgoing
e-mails show my name. I need a different name to show up on MS Word,
Excel and Power Poin reviewers, author and comments. Due to internal
organization in my firm, I need a certain specific name to be displayed
on Office documents; this name is different from my real name (used in
Entourage).

Any help is appreciated

I'm not totally clear on whether you need 2 or 3 names--but if the outgoing
email name is a problem, *that* can be different for each email account--go
to Tools | Accounts, open up the account and fill in Personal Information as
you wish. The outgoing email name is *not* dependent on the "Me" contact in
Entourage, so you can get 2 names pretty easily that way.

For the rest of it, though, reviewers etc, Word, Office, and PowerPoint all
take their cue from the "Me" contact in the active Identity in Entourage.
This is why switching identities in Entourage requires you to quit all
Office apps.

So far as I know, there is no way to break that link. However, there are at
least two ways to get around it, if necessary:

1) have two Entourage identities, and switch as needed--you could have a
fake identity that does nothing but feed Word, Excel and PPT a name

2) set up a new user account in OS X, and switch users as needed
