brightness and contrast - where?

The screen color looks bright; the printed page looks dull in comparison. In
PhotoShop I can brighten a screen to make the printed page look bright. Can
that be done in Publisher? Thanks, Yet Another Ashley

On the Picture toolbar there are contrast and brightness buttons for images.
What version Publisher?
Publisher has adequate editing tools for images however you'd be far better
served editing your pictures in PhotoShop and inserting into Publisher.

Your screen can display many more colors than a printer can, so this is part
of the equation.
Have you, do you, calibrate your monitor?
