Bring back Visio Shape Wizard (automate diagram from Excel)!!!

Prior versions of Visio contained an add-in for automatically creating
diagrams (rendering) using Excel template. Can't believe that this powerful
functionality was removed. Also, have not found any third parties that
provide a simple version of this!

What exactly are you missing? What kind of drawings and Excel data? It might
just have been moved or renamed...

Wow! Pleasantly surprised that someone is reading these!
There used to be a macro (maybe the visio 2000 version) that you kicke
off from the visio application. It would open an excel template wher
you filled out various shape and connector information. Then, a macr
was run from this Excel template (I can't recall if it attempts to ru
automatically when you close Excel) that creates the shapes an
connectors. It's very similar in functionality to the org chart wizar
but has more flexibility (you can create many complex relationships)

There were other macros in this prior version of visio as well
including one that created a website map.

That's cool.

I have an Excel ERD grid, that I find extremely helpful during interviews
and analysis meetings for Database projects. I am working on some automation
in Visio that'll instantiate my Excel Workbook and fill in the integrity
constraints in Excel.

I can post this if anyone would like to see the Excel grid.
