Bringing text forward?

I'm creating a flow chart and after connecting two items, I'm trying to bring
the text of the top item to be in front of the connecting line. In other
words, I don't want the connecting line running through the text.

Hi JG,

I don't fully understand what you have. Is the text on the connector? If
not, you might consider selecting the connector and typing - connectors can
"own" text.

If you've done this already, then maybe you just need a background color for
your text that obscures the line behind it.

Select the connector, then go to Format > Text > Text Block. There you'll
see a "Text background" area that allows you to select "Solid color"

Thanks Chris. I have noticed if I double click the connector and type in
text then yes the connector line, looks to go behind the text I type in.
That's what I'm looking for but not as connector text. If I have a workflow
with an item say 4 inches down from the next workflow item, I want the text
near the top level item and not in the middle of the connector.

I tried the text block background color but it still leaves the connector
line running right through the text which looks tacky.

If you are still manipulating text on a connector, there's a little yellow
handle that will help you to reposition it.

If you have a separate text block, try Shape > Order > Bring to Front
