At some point when creating a departmental template, I did something that
broke the content controls. I think. I say "I think" because I remember them
working some weeks ago. Now the content controls in the header reliably turn
into regular text every time I save, close, and reopen the .dotx file. Today
I realized I didn't have Office SP1. But the problem occurs in the same
fashion.
It could be that I have to insert invisible returns after the content
controls, which is a workaround discovered by the excellent folks on the
word-pc list. However, the workaround only works in the .dotx file, not in a
..docx file created from the .dotx. I sure would like to hear from a full
range of experienced Word 2007 users.
In the odd and even headers of the second section in my template, I inserted
the content controls by Insert> Quick Parts> Document Property. The document
properties I chose were Title, Subject, Keywords, and Category. These
properties are also on the cover.
I can insert these content controls in the body of the document and they
work just fine.
How can I get my content controls to work reliably in the header?
