Broken image links

I posted a message, and it was there, and then it wasn't - so I'm posting it
again. My apologies if I post it tiwce.

I insert eps pictures into PowerPoint X using the insert command, and when
I reopen the presentation on the Mac on which I am working, another Mac in
the office, or on a PC in the office (all three from the same file in the same
folder on the server), the images are gone and there are red X's in their
place. The help files say that as to do with web page links, but I am not
working on or with web pages.

Is there any way to check links in PowerPoint? How about being sure I won't
lose the links? Inserting files into a slide is supposed to embed them, but
obviously that is not happening. I used PowerPoint a long time ago and
never had this problem. We are sending these files to clients off site, and
they are not getting the pictures either.

Someone suggested I use jpg instead of eps, but the file quality is so much
less with jpg.

Any ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Your software's probably not showing you messages you've already read. In any
case, both posts worked, so no worries.

The red x means a missing link in some cases but it can also be PPT's way of
saying "For some reason or other I can't draw this". Unless you're going out of
your way to link the EPS graphics, they're embedded; you're completely correct
about that, so I wouldn't worry about the links. I doubt there are any.

If you don't like the results of JPG, try PNG instead, or insert your EPS then
immediately ungroup them then regroup them. This will discard the PostScript
content of the images and convert the preview to Office drawing objects, which
will usually jump the platform gap much more gracefully.
