Brown blocks appear behind some shapes - how do I remove?

some of my shapes appear with brown boxes in the background when I print.

How do I remove?

Are they only there when you print?
First check that there is not a layer set to print only (menu View ->
Layer Properties)
then check that your printer drivers are up to date.
