browse is greyed out in xp setup

when trying to install Office XP2002 browse is greyed out
so installation is only possible on drive C..since i have
a space problem on C i would like to install on another
drive...there is a solution in the knowledge base (313034)
for other operating systems but not for XP...should that
solution be tried for XP..?

whatever i do the browse remains greyed out...it works
alright on the other computer..

what happened was that i usually keep losing some office
files due to the disk cleaning systems that i
have..which i have to repair from time to time using
setup...however this time after downloading all the XP
updates office install would not load the patch
file...used microsofts windows installer cleaning utility
to solve that...however after that the browse greyed
out...

i donot have enough space on C for a full install and
thought mightbe there is a fix for that..there is one for
the older operating systems...should i try that..
