Bug in labels

P

Pat Hartman

I recently installed A2003 and label reports which have been working for
years stopped working. I have been using the same printer for 4 years so it
is not a printer problem. I use the standard avery labels that print 3x10.
They were set up with a .5 top margin, 1" for each label, and a .5" bottom
margin. Apparently the .5" bottom margin is no longer allowed and Access
changes it to .516. This causes the print preview to only show 9 rows on a
page and if you print the labels, they creep up the page so that only the
first 4 rows are actually usable. The rest cross the label edge and print
part on one label and part on another.

I was offered a solution that worked - change the top margin to .4 and the
bottom margin to .6 and adjust the print area so that it starts down slightly
from its original position. This solved the problem but I have to make this
change to EVERY label report in EVERY database. How about a hot fix to solve
the problem?
I am using Win XP pro svp 1.

Did you happen to upgrade your Printer Driver when you moved to A2003?

The minimum margin value is a property of the Printer and its Driver
software. I would guess that if you are using a newer driver then the
min bottom margin is now .516 inches.

No, I changed nothing. At least not until the reports broke. Then I
downloaded a new driver but that didn't fix the problem. I suppose it could
have been some Win XP update that caused the problem and it just looked like
the new version of Access. I don't print labels that frequently.
