Bug in Notebook View?

I think I've hit a bug while editing in Notebook View in Word 2004.
It's always reproducible.

The problem is this: when the cursor is at the end of a section,
hitting alt-left arrow to go back one word jumps back two or three
words instead.

Hitting alt-right-arrow jumps forward, correctly, one word at a time.
Cursor has to be at the end of a section for this to happen, and only
happens in Notebook View.

I've escalated this to Microsoft and hopefully we'll see a fix one of these
days, months, years .
