Bug in Office Word 2007

C

crash.report

1. Open a text document in word 2007
2. Select all text.
3. Press 'word count' button on the Review/Proofing area
4. See how Character count and several other figures are misreported
(last character cut off)

Example:

Workaround. NEVER select text in a document when trying to count word/
character numbers, Word 2007 will cut off the last digits.

I don't see this behavior with approximately the same number of words and
characters.

Now, I do see spaces instead of commas in the character count on your Word
2007 screen shot but no commas on the other screen shot. That indicates Word
looks to your Regional Settings for the display and the other doesn't. What
are all of your Regional Settings? (Language and all other settings) I'm
wondering if a setting is a bit off.

My regional settings are ok in the control panel.

The bug is in Word 2007. It is drawing the character count outside the
window draw area.

I'm using UK English version of Word 2007 and regional settings are
for FIN for the system (WinXP Pro sp2 + all updates).

BTW, the above settings work perfectly ok in Word 2000. No problem
whatsoever. The bug is likely in the algorithm that allocates drawing
space for the character count.

As for why OpenOffice doesn't look into the system regional settings,
that's another matter.

Thanks for the additional information. I'm still not seeing it but I'm not
using the UK version either. I may see if your screen shot will do the trick
since it might be the underlying issue is a simple matter of modifying the
labels used for displaying the values the dialog box.

Thanks!
