Bug in OL2003?

P

Piet van der Plas

I am using a custom contact form since 1998, first with OL98 and then with
OL2000 without any problems.
The form is published in the folder "Outlook folders"

Having upgraded to OL2003 last week I now experience the following problem
with this form:
Every first time I open a contact after Outlook is started it flashes the
message that it loads the form. This has never happened before.
If Outlook is kept open, the next time I open a contact, I do not get this
message again.
However, if Outlook is closed and reopened, I get the same message again.

After 5 or 6 times it really gets annoying, because then Outlook says it
cannot find the form and I have to republish the form to Outlook Folders.

This problems resembles a known bug with the OL2003 forms cache already
published at http://www.slipstick.com/dev/ol2003problems.htm
(Forms in Public Forms/Favorites), but the workaround posted there does not
work in my situation!

Any suggestions for a workaround?

Thanks,

Piet van der Plas

Yes, this pretty much the same issue as in the article you cited, related to the forms cache. Where is the "Outlook Folders" folder located? In Public Folders, mailbox, pst?

I am not sure, I programmed the form based on one of Helen Feddema's code
examples 5 years ago and I more or less forgot the intricasies of the
Outlook folders structure.
We do not use Exchange, but Mdaemon Groupware for shared folder access
I just publish the form with "Publish Form As" in the default folder shown
(Outlook Folders) and then the the form is available to all my contact
folders.
Hope the bugfix is released soon, because it is really annoying.

Thanks,
Piet van der Plas

Hi,
I'm experiencing the described problem. But I didn't publish my forms
in a public folder but in the organizational forms library.
The strange behaviour is, I'm experiencing it only on other systems,
not on my own on which I'm developing the forms(all outlook 2003
users).

Dou you think this is the same problem? Because the organizational
forms library has nothing to do with any public folder favorites, does
it?

It doesn't matter where the form is published. Outlook 2003 has forms cache problems. THey're just worse in Public Folders\Favorites.
