Bug in Word 2003 Causes Program to Lock Up in Not Responding State When I try to Save a Doc

On a 70+-page document, Word 2003 under WinXP Pro SP2 locks up in a not
responding state, anytime I try to save the document. The document contains
mostly text and some graphics.

The Office Update facility tells me that I already have the latest updates.
;-(

How can I get Word 2003 to work right?

Thanks for your feedback. I tried the first suggestion on the link you
supplied to rid the doc of corruption. However, that did not solve the
problem.

The problem with this document rests with a graphic .jpg image that I
inserted into a page. Though sizeable, the image does not fill a full page
of printed/displayed text. Originally, the .jpg image came from a web page.
I don't know what besides the art itself may have caused the problem.
However, when I remove that graphic and then save the document, Word 2003
saves the doc as it should. To be sure that nothing problematic is embedded
in the .jpg file, I printed the image, scanned it back into my PC, then
reinserted it into the document. Yet, when I tried to save the document,
Word 2003 locked up again in a "not responding" state. The image itself is
a line drawing with text and shading ranging from black to crimson, then
fading out as the color paints down the page.

So, I'm still stuck on this one. I shall very much appreciate your help on
this.
