Are you having trouble 'restarting' page numbers in Word 2007? Does your
document include a cover page, for example (without a page number) -- and you
tried to restart numbering on page 2 to read "page 1"? Did you reset the
page number to start at "1" -- but it appeared as "2"?
I ran into the same problem. After lots of trial and error, recreating
footers and page numbers etc., I finally found that you can set the page
number to "0" -- and Word will display "1".
I hope this seemingly-simple solution will save other users some of the
hassle I encountered. I also hope that the Microsoft Word dev team will take
another look at the page numbering function. Based on my own experience and
all of the posts on the Web, it is clear that page numbering is still too
complex and prone to error.
