bug? Macrovirus?

Word 2004 for mac, fully up to date, Tiger, latest version, Mac G4.

Word or exel launches with error microsoft frameworks. Page loads, but
cannot appear to see normal.dot. A page of new text behaves
erratically, if I try highlighting and bolding text, the entire page
bolds. If I select part of a word it is ok. Same with bullets and
italics. Old documents are bnot affected as far as I can tell.

I have replaced normal.dot - No good.
I have run remove office and reinstalled from original disks no good
I have checked Tiger - ok
I have run disk warrior- ok
Running scan Sophos antivirus now, but it has been on the alert and is
up to date.

Still same symptoms.

I think there are a few separate problems here:
1) Word or exel launches with error microsoft frameworks.

I forget the fix for that one, but let it go for a minute, it's not killing
anything.
2) Page loads, but cannot appear to see normal.dot.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Can you explain in more detail? Or is
this just your way of diagnosing problem 3?
3) if I try highlighting and bolding text, the entire page
bolds. If I select part of a word it is ok. Same with bullets and
italics.

And that one is easy--not a bug or macrovirus but a misplaced setting. In
any doc, go to Format | Style. Make sure Normal is selected in the left
column. Click Modify. UNCHECK the "automatically update" box, which is
causing the problem, and CHECK the "add to template" box to make the fix
stick for all NEW documents. You'll have to redo these steps for each old
document that still shows the problem.

You'll find additional information here--written for WinWord, but the
principles involved are the same, if you want to know what is going on:

I have Tiger (latest version) and Microsoft Office 2004. Recently, everytime
I do a word attachement and email to other people, it shows up on their ISP
as containing a virus and they cannot open it. What can I do to get rid of
this so called virus in my word application. Excel and other apps are all
fine. I have ran disk utility and have a firewall. I don't think I have a
virus on my computer.

Please, what can I do to fix my word (preferably free as I'm recently out of
work).

Thanks

Okay, for this one:

First repair permissions for the system, using Disk Utility. This is a
symptom of Office not having permission to access the Microsoft User Data
folder in your user account.

Quoting JE McGimpsey:

If after updating [and repairing permissons] this problem is still
occurring, it's because the wrong database daemon is running. Quit all
Office apps. Go to System Preference/Account/<your account>/Login items, and
delete any instances of the Microsoft database daemon. Then log out and back
in.

Information received from this thread, especially #7.

I have done both those things - thanks Daiya. I have looked in the
activity monitor and find nothing unusual or that I cant identify - but
it still seems to not find the MS framework. Nothing is running in the
login items except Eudora, System events and i tunes helper
