Bug - Pasting tables in Excel

I noticed that when I paste Access tables into Excel that Excel does not
let you manipulate numeric data normally (e.g. sum, decrease nr of
decimals), even when the data type is set correctly. Anyone know of this
bug and how to get around it? (apart from saving the sheet as CSV and
importing it again)
