Bug Report - can't get Word 2002 PIAs

D

David Thielen

Hi;

I am trying somehow to get these bugs reported to the Word group (having no
luck so far):

I reinstalled all of office and then installed the Office 2002 PIAs again.
Once again I get Office, Excel, etc. But no Word 2002. And again, the Word
2002 dll is in the GAC - but I can’t set it as a reference. I think the
install for this is missing some step.

thanks - dave

ps - just to confirm, there are no PIAs for Word 2000 so a C# add-in is
limited to Word 2002 and later (or actually since the Word 2002 PIAs don't
work - Word 2003).

Hi

The behavior is strange, how do you add a com reference to the word 10.0?
If we add a COM reference to the word 10.0 library, we can find that the
path is pointed to the path similar with below.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\msword.olb.

I think you may have a try, if that still did not work, I think you may try
to repaire installed the word xp application to see if that work for you.

Hello Davind,

Word 2002(WORD XP) PIA can be downloaded at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=c41bd61e-3060-4f71-
a6b4-01feba508e52&displaylang=en.

For how to install, view, reference, and distribute solutions based on the
Office XP Primary Interop Assemblies, please refer to the following article:
"Working with the Office XP Primary Interop Assemblies"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnoxpta/html/odc_oxppias.asp?frame=t
rue#odc_oxppias_topic5

I think there may be some error in the installation. Could you please check
the setting according to the above article? Thanks very much.

Hello;

Yes, I've installed them - 5 times. And the dlls are in the GAC. But it
won't let me reference them. I even tried doing a browse to just select the
dll - but you can't browse to a file in the GAC.

It's real frustrating because the file is right there in the GAC!!!!!

any other suggestions?

thanks - dave

Hi

From the your description, it seems that the com library did not match the
PIA, since you have reinstalled the PIA many times, we can assume that the
PIA is OK. So I suggest you try to reinstalled the word and then the PIA
install to see if that works.
You may try my suggestion before to see if that works.
