Bug with digital signatures and doubleclick

Meikel Weber

Hi,

today I wasted 2 hours of my life trying to submit a bug report to
microsoft. Unfortunately this seems impossible withoug paying some money
for assisted support. Well I don't want any support, just report a bug and
offer MS the opportunity to make a better product. Without finding any
better place, I post it here:

Product: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP 1 German

Bug description:
When receiving a digitally signed email, I can click that nice red ribbon
to check the validity of the signature and get further details. There is a
crash in that area that only appears when I double click a specific item.

Steps to reproduce on my system:
1) View some digitally signed email (preview window or open the mail)
2) Click the red ribbon (a dialog for digital signature appears)
3) Click on "Details" (properties of message security appear)
There is a small tree-view showing a hirarchy of 3 items:
top: subject
below: "Digitalsignaturschicht" (maybe translated from layer for digital
signatures or so)
lowest: "Signierer: (e-mail address removed)"
4) I highlight (click on) the lowest item showing the email adress of the
person that originally signed the message
5) I double click the item from 4) to show a signature details window
6) I close the signature details window
7) Outlook crashes

If in step 5) I use the button "Show details" (or so), no crash happens.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me. I can
reproduce this bug consistently with every signed message I have (well
it's not that many).
