Bugdet Tracking

Hello good pple of the forum,
How can i create a set of custom fields that will track the actual cost
being incurred on a project. For instance if a project is meant to last for
3months and i create 3 custom fields like month1, month2 and month3 i want
the actual cost that is incurred on month1 to be displayed after the first
month and so on for the other months also.

Thank you

Use the OLAP cube as your data source and create a report (SRS, Data
Analysis, Performance). This will allow you to view timephased data by month.

Alterntatively, if you have Excel 2007, you can create a visual report from
Proj Pro which levergages the local cube feature to view the same
information. This feature is however limited to the project that is
currently open in Pro.

If you're using 2007 (you should always specify when you post) then I
suggest you look at Cost Resources to track this. Custom fields are not time
phased. Cost resources are a new feature in 2007 and will work well for your
needs.
