Bugs: custom toolbars & stencil organization

L

I recently upgraded from Visio 2002 to 2003, and I find the upgrade a
horribly unfinished product. It just dumped all the files into a single
directory with no startup or anything and I had to split up the files into
subdirectories and create my own shortcuts. I'm so sorry I upgraded. I've
downloaded and installed the service pack from the web, but it doesn't fix
things. Please tell me someone has a fix for the majorly serious problems.

Along these lines, the stencils, which used to be in the Solutions directory
are all in 8.3 DOS file names and all in a single directory. When you pull up
the stencil list in the program, the cryptic filenames give little clue as to
what the stencil really is. I've been trying to rename all the file names to
a more decriptive title, but that's taking a very long time.

Another thing, when you pull up the stencil menu from the program, you get
this exhausive list you have to scroll all the way from the beginning to the
where the file name is. I've tried organizing all the stencils into
subdirectory categories like how they were in previous versions, but the
program won't read subdirectories!

The other major frustration is when I customize my toolbars, after I close
the program and start it up again, all the customizations are gone and
returns to the default. It's as if the customizations aren't being saved.

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THERE ARE FIXES FOR THESE PROBLEMS!!!!

Actually, these are not problems ... they are correct.
Visio now uses the Windows installer msi file to translate these short names
to alternate names.
The old File Paths method is only a last resort for legacy applications.
You are encouraged to use the Visio Publishing Tool that is available in the
Visio SDK
