Build Team from Enterprise : greyed resources

Hello,
What is/are the parameter(s) which manage the availability of the resources
in the Build Team dialog for a specific Project Manager.
I didn't activate any filter.
Some resources are greyed out while they have many hours available
and they are in the same branch of the RBS than Project Manager
Some resources are *not* greyed out so the Project Manager can choose them
while they are in another branch of the RBS.

Hi Newbie,

did you check if the resources are actually checked out?
You can see this if you go to Admin > Manage enterprise features > check in
enterprise resources.
should you see the resources within this table, there cant be used to build
a team. You will need to check them back in and then they should not be
greyed out.

Hi Newbie,
the other option is that your rights may dont allow you to manage all
resources. Did you set up the RBS ( Resource Breakdown Structure )? And if so
could it be that the resources that are greyed out may not be below your RBS?

Hi Marc,
As I said in my first post, I set up a RBS. The user who encountered this
problem is at the lower level of that RBS.
The problem is that he can see another user who is at a higher level, he can
see a user who is in another "department" of the RBS, but he can't see users
in its own department....

Hi Newbie,

You may want to check what category the users is assigned to. Once you
discovered the categroy, you may want to check under Admin > Manage Security

Modify category.

Under Resources you should have a tick on the:
"Allow users in this category to view information for all resources that
they manage directly".
Can you check if this is ticked on. If not tick it on and see if you
encounter the same problem. Please note that changing security may effect
other users using the system.

Hi Newbie,

Sorry just that I understand correctly let me summaries your problem. You
have a PM that tries to assign resources to a project, but cant because the
resource is "greyed" out when the PM wants to build hes team.

The user he/she is trying to use, is below his RBS, meaning that he should
be able to use the user. On the other hand the PM is able to use antoher user
which is higher in the RBS then he and really shouldnt be able to choose this
resource when building his team.

You have checkted that the security is set up correctly and still have the
problem. hmmmmmmm.
Can you check if another PM who is not part of the users RBS can choose this
user?
Sorry to do this to you but at I have not seen this behaviour and can
only try to eliminate possible causes.
